Our Mission
Power of People (POP) is a youth-led civic media project dedicated to defending democracy and reclaiming voice for the people who built it.
We exist to speak truth, amplify resistance, and make civic power unignorable.
At a time when democracy is slipping — not just abroad, but here at home — POP exists to name what’s happening, and fight back with clarity, urgency, and heart.
This isn’t about partisanship. It’s about survival.
We believe democracy belongs to all of us — and we’re not letting it go without a fight.
Why Now
Across the world, democracies are backsliding:
The average global citizen now experiences 1985-level democratic conditions
Over 40 countries have slid toward authoritarianism in the last two decades
Even in the U.S., we’ve seen the sharpest democratic decline in modern history
The data is clear — but the conversation is broken. That’s where we come in.
POP was created to cut through the noise, call out the spin, and make democratic crisis impossible to ignore — especially for young people. We write, report, and build around one goal: To return democracy to the hands that built it.
