Our Mission

Power of People (POP) is a youth-led civic media project dedicated to defending democracy and reclaiming voice for the people who built it.
We exist to speak truth, amplify resistance, and make civic power unignorable.

At a time when democracy is slipping — not just abroad, but here at home — POP exists to name what’s happening, and fight back with clarity, urgency, and heart.

This isn’t about partisanship. It’s about survival.
We believe democracy belongs to all of us — and we’re not letting it go without a fight.

Why Now

Across the world, democracies are backsliding:

  • The average global citizen now experiences 1985-level democratic conditions

  • Over 40 countries have slid toward authoritarianism in the last two decades

  • Even in the U.S., we’ve seen the sharpest democratic decline in modern history

The data is clear — but the conversation is broken. That’s where we come in.

POP was created to cut through the noise, call out the spin, and make democratic crisis impossible to ignore — especially for young people. We write, report, and build around one goal: To return democracy to the hands that built it.
